Prospect Blasts onto the Scene

The 6-3, 190-pound athlete is a hard-hitting safety who was almost unknown, then sent out his highlight tape from his junior season and now has four scholarship offers...

Jamal Scott, the 6-3, 190-pound athlete from Anaheim (Calif.) Magnolia could be called a late-bloomer.

At least in terms of his recruitment.

Scott didn't have a scholarship offer a week ago. But his junior highlight tape (which you can watch below) came out on Memorial Day and he immediately garnered offers from Utah, San Diego State, Houston and New Mexico.

The Evaluation Period is wrapping up, ending today, so many schools are sending coaches out to Anaheim Magnolia to check out Scott. UCLA is one of those schools, with UCLA assistant coach Taylor Mazzone, whose recruiting region is Orange County, visiting Magnolia yesterday. UCLA defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin is now recruiting Scott.

Scott intends to camp at UCLA in June, which is critical toward the coaches getting a good look and evaluation of him.

Scott reportedly is a very good student too.
