Westlake (Calif.) Oaks Christian quarterback Brandon Dawkins has had a strange couple of weeks. After attempting to commit to Notre Dame two weeks ago, and not hearing back from the coaches, Dawkins backed off the intended commitment and is now considering a wider variety of school.

On Tuesday, he attended UCLA's Skills Camp, where he said he threw "pretty well" but doesn't think a UCLA offer is imminent.

"Honestly, I don't think they're very high on me," Dawkins said of UCLA. "I don't think they like me very much as a quarterback. They've said they'll still evaluate me going forward."

Dawkins does have decidedly more interest from across town, according to the quarterback. He attended USC's Elite Camp on Sunday, and thinks the coaches could be close to offering.

"That was probably the best I've thrown, ever, in a camp environment," Dawkins said. "I got to throw in front of Coach Kiffin, and I got the vibe that they could be very close to offering me, which would be a big offer for me."

Next on the docket for Dawkins this summer is ASU's camp this weekend. He said that the Sun Devils also have talked to him about potentially coming in this year, which would add him to a class that already includes Novato (Calif.) San Marin quarterback Manny Wilkins.

As for a decision time frame, Dawkins does not intend to rush his decision again, and is waiting for the right opportunity at the right time.

"I just want to make a decision by the time I start my senior year," Dawkins said. "Obviously, it'll depend on which schools end up offering me."
