Manning Camps with UCLA

The Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) cornerback, Artuz Manning, camped with UCLA earlier this week and he will also be at the Elite Camp next week...

Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) cornerback Artuz Manning has been diligent on the camp circuit all spring.

And Manning is hopefully the time spent will pay off with his first offer.

On Tuesday, Manning camped at UCLA's Skills Camp and was one of the top performers there.

"I had a great time working with the coaches," said Manning. "The camp was nice and efficient and there wasn't a lot of standing around. We got a lot of action."

After the camp, Manning talked with defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin, who he worked with much of the day.

"Coach Meat, I like the way that he coaches, especially the way he coaches the corners," said Manning. "He's a really good coach and a cool person. We talked a lot after the camp and he said I did really well and that he wants me to come back for the Elite Camp (on the 21st), so I'm going back to go to the Elite Camp and I'm really looking forward to it."

Manning will camp with Oregon State this weekend and then the day after the UCLA Elite Camp, he'll camp at San Jose State's satellite camp in La Verne.

"I've been talking with Coach (Donte) Williams at San Jose State and he said he really wants me to come to their camp and I think they might be close (to offering)," said Manning. "Coach (Rod) Perry for Oregon State is recruiting me too."

The following week, Manning will camp with USC.

Manning said there are three schools he thinks could be close to offering.

"New Mexico State, Colorado and Colorado State, all, I feel, are really close to offering," said Manning.
