2015 Intro: Kaiser Gates

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- 2015 prospect Kaiser Gates has a number of high major scholarship offers. He updated Scout.com on the latest on his recruitment at NBPA Camp, especially with his connection to UCLA...

Kaiser Gates, a junior-to-be out of Alpharetta (Georgia) St. Francis, is already reeling in the scholarship offers.

"It's going fine," Gates told Scout.com about his recruitment at the NBPA Camp. "I have 10 offers right now and a lot of other schools showing interest. I have a couple of Big Ten schools and SEC [after me].

Among the schools that have offered Gates are Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Houston, Cincinnati, College of Charleston, Auburn and George Mason. UCLA, Alabama and Georgia Tech are also showing some interest.

"I was supposed to visit the campus of UCLA last week during Pangos," Gates said. "I was supposed to visit them, but I got caught up in family stuff and didn't get to go up there."

"When we go to Vegas, I'm going to go see them," he added. "I have a lot of family in L.A. That's where I'm from pretty much. I like the state a lot. That school is definitely in consideration. I like that school a lot."

Gates said he hasn't talked to the UCLA coaches, but his father has.

"They aren't allowed to call me until the 15th, but they send me letters and they talk to my dad," Gates, a 6-foot-6 wing, said.

To go with UCLA, Gates said he also wants to visit a pair of Ohio schools.

"I want to visit Ohio State and Cincinnati," he said. "My cousin went there, Yancy Gates."

"Growing up Ohio State was always one of my favorite schools," he added. "UCLA too. I used to watch them on TV. I used to love them. Whenever I'd see their games I'd turn the channel and watch them. I've just always liked those schools."

Gates has already taken unofficial visits to Auburn, Alabama, Georgia and Georgia Tech.
