Knox Has Top Six

Fort Worth (Tex.) All Saints' Episcopal offensive lineman Demetrius Knox has a top six after his visit to UCLA on Monday, and plans for an official visit in October...

"My top five just changed in the past 40 minutes," Knox said while hanging on the sidelines of TCU's camp Friday, listing "TCU, UCLA, Ohio State, Miami, Florida State and Oregon" as his "top six."

"TCU wasn't in it, but after being here, I remember why I loved them in the first place."

Sitting in Knox's backyard of Fort Worth, TCU was really the first program in on him. Still, with mutual early interest in the Frogs, the 6-foot-4, 305-pounder pulled the trigger with the University of Texas in late November.

It was less than five months later, however, following a trip to Ohio State and the commitment of his four-star quarterback Foster Sawyer to TCU that Knox began rethinking things, decommitting from the Longhorns April 22 to "re-open and re-evaluate."

He made an unofficial visit to Miami June 3, followed by last Friday's TCU stop. He then traveled to UCLA Monday.

Said a source close to the lineman: "He loved it [UCLA]. I really think it'll come down to UCLA or TCU."

Knox reported he plans on returning to UCLA this fall for an official visit Ocober 12, when the Bruins host Cal. He will also return to Ohio State for an official visit October 26 for Penn State game.

He will likely make his final three officials to Miami, Florida State and Oregon.

"TCU's right down the road, I can come here anytime, so I don't think I'll make an official here. I'd rather save them (official visits) for the out-of-state schools. I'm not sure dates, but I know those are three (Miami, Florida State and Oregon) I'd like to get to."

Three factors that remain important to Knox are "the environment of the town and the campus, the coaching staff and how I connect with them, and basically if they're on a path to winning a national championship," he said. "Like if TCU comes and takes the Big 12 this year, gol-ly. That'd be huge."

As far as a decision timeline goes, "I'm going to wait until after all my officials before I decide anything."

He sighed. "It's going to be so tough."
