It's been an impressive spring for 6-foot-10, 220-pound Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei 2016 center Jayce Johnson, who has clearly moved in a strong direction after his freshman season.

Johnson has grown a couple inches in the last year, has gained strength, developed a much stronger upper half and his motor keeps improving.

"I thought I played well as a freshman, but I've improved a lot since then," Johnson said.

"My shooting and ball handling are improving, but my left and right hand are also getting better. I need to work on my ball handling a little more."

Cal State Northridge has offered Johnson, who says he's also hearing from Stanford, Harvard and UCLA.

One school could end up having an advantage in this recruitment.

"I like Stanford a lot; academics are important to me," Johnson said. "I'm going to camp there this summer so I'll see everything then."
