Lucier-South is already 6-4, 205 pounds and has a great frame. He has always played defensive end for the Lancers and is a natural pass rusher but worked out at linebacker at UCLA and said he enjoyed the experience.
"That was actually the first time I ever worked out at linebacker before," Lucier-South said. "I actually liked it a lot and had fun working with the coaches there. UCLA runs a 3-4 so playing outside linebacker is actually pretty similar to playing defensive end in a 4-3.
"I just need to work on my footwork and being able to drop back and play in space. I really liked working with Coach Ulbrich, he's a great coach and I like him a lot. When we do 7 on 7's for school, I only play receiver, they don't let me play on defense at all but hopefully I will in the future so I can work more at linebacker."
Lucier-South said going in to the camp, he thought he might get some work at defensive end as well as linebacker.
"I really wanted to do some pass rush work, that would have been fun," Lucier-South said. "It worked out well though because I enjoyed staying at linebacker. I really like that position with all the coverage's and blitzes you can do.
"I think that camp might be it for me this summer. I know USC has their Rising Stars Camp this week but I'm going to be out of town so I don't think I can make it. Right now, I'm just going to focus on my team at Orange Lutheran and get ready for my junior season. I'm still not ready to narrow things down yet and I'm open to every school that is recruiting me right now."
