Holmes to Choose Between Two

A lot was hinging on a UCLA visit for Corey Holmes, and now that he's seen the program first hand, the 2014 wide receiver expects to make his decision within a few days...

Corey Holmes will choose between two finalists – Notre Dame, and UCLA. He's visited the Irish several times already and just wrapped up his first visit to UCLA. The St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL) standout said he loved his time in Los Angeles.

"I really enjoyed myself, really enjoyed the time I spent on campus and the time I spent with Coach Yarber, the receivers coach, and all the other coaches I met. It was all what I thought it was going to be and there's a lot of good things I have to say about UCLA," Holmes said.

The four-star receiver said the coaches made a strong recruiting pitch to him and said he could be a big part of their future offense.

"The coaches just stressed how big it would be for me to be included in this 2014 recruiting class, how big of an impact I would be in it, how big it would be to have a guy like me from Florida, with my explosiveness, to be a part of the offense and have weapons such as the quarterback they have now and the running backs they're going to have in the future," Holmes said.

"They just explained how well of a fit I would be in the program."

Holmes visited the program with his parents and his sister, who've done a lot of traveling with him throughout the process.

"They had good things to say about it and bad things to say about it, but everyone enjoyed themselves and loved the campus," he said.

"They never look at distance, they just want me to go to the college that presents the best opportunity for me to play football and the best opportunity after football."

It won't be long now before the 6-foot-2, 176-pound receiver makes a final decision. He had also been considering Florida and Oklahoma, but now he says it will either be the Bruins or the Irish. He returns home from vacation on Monday and plans to have his decision shortly after.

"Now that this visit is behind me, I don't plan on taking any more visits. In these next couple of days, I'm just going to look over everything and probably make my decision in the next couple of days," he said.

At this point, Holmes said he isn't leaning one way or the other, but he'll work through it all in the coming days.

"I'm still keeping my mind open until I sit down and look at everything," he said.

"It's going to be something I do on my own, I really want to do this myself, for my own mind."
