Hemsley Reports No Favorites

2015 La Verne (Calif.) Damien guard Jeremy Hemsley was one of the most impressive players on Friday at the Double Pump Summer Tip-Off. He's a great athlete with a good feel for the game and good skills. Throughout his first game on Friday, he was able to get into the lane whenever he wanted, driving past defenders with ease.

With his ability, schools are starting to take notice. Hemsley said after his first game that he has received scholarship offers from Connecticut, UNLV, San Diego State, New Mexico, Irvine, and Boston College.

"No one's really standing out right now," Hemsley said. "I'm still just collecting offers. I never had a childhood favorite growing up or anything like that, I always just knew that I wanted to go to college."

To work toward that goal, Hemsley has spent the last couple of years working hard on his game. He said he's feeling more and more confident with his left hand thanks to hours of work in the gym.

"I've been working hard over the spring trying to get better," Hemsley said. "My next goal is to become a better rebounder."

An L.A.-area prospect, Hemsley said that USC has been on him quite a bit, and that UCLA has also touched in, but not as often.

For Hemsley, offers from the two local schools would mean a great deal.

"Those would be huge offers," Hemsley said. "Again, I don't have any favorites or anything like that, but getting offers from the local schools would be a big deal for me and my family."

Hemsley said that he'd love to make a decision sometime before the start of his senior season, but said it will depend on whether he's found the right school for him by that point.

For him, early playing time is important, but he says that he's comfortable playing either point guard or shooting guard.

"The biggest factor in my decision will be where I feel the most comfortable," Hemsley said. "I want it to feel like home, with a good style of play and early playing time."

Hemsley reports a 3.3 GPA.
