Forget all his physical tools, the one thing you have to love about Smith is he plays hard, not just every game, but every snap. He doesn't take a play off and he was going both ways at receiver and safety every game.
In an early matchup with Gardena (Calif.) Serra featuring 20 legitimate Div I players on the field, Smith was easily the most dominant player in the game. He looked great at receiver showing better hands than we've seen in the past, downfield speed and the ability to jump over defensive backs whenever he wanted to.
He also showed good range at safety as well, covers a ton of ground and plays as physical as you can in a shirts and shorts environment.
On the recruiting front, Smith recently told national analysts Brandon Huffman that he has four of his official visits lined up Smith visit dates. He now has his 5th school picked for his remaining trip.
"I'm going to Ole Miss," Smith said at the Edison tourney. I don't have a date yet but it will be sometime during the season. I want to take all five trips during the season so I can see what a game weekend will be like and take in the college atmosphere.
"Plus I just want to get them over with so after my season is done, I'll be able to focus on my decision and have the trips behind me. I'm also going to try and take an unofficial visit to California during the season when they play Ohio State and I want to visit UCLA and USC as well but I can do that any time.
"I may commit at the Under Armour AA game but I'm not sure yet, it's up in the air. I'll just play it by ear and if I know where I want to go at that time, I'll do it, if not, I'll wait and decide later.
