The final July evaluation period ended on Sunday, so for Rashad Vaughn, a five-star shooting guard in the 2014 class, it means he'll begin narrowing his list of college choices.
"It's still the same," Vaughn said of his recruitment. "I'm still wide open. When I get back, I'm going to narrow my list. Right when I get back I'm going to talk to my parents and narrow it to around eight or seven."
Among the schools pursuing Vaughn, arguably the top scorer in the 2014 class, include Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Baylor, Iowa State, Minnesota, Connecticut, UNLV and UCLA.
At this point, Vaughn hasn't set up any official visits, but two schools are on his mind for possible visits.
"None for sure, but probably Kansas, Kentucky and that's it for sure," Vaughn told Scout.com.
While Vaughn doesn't have a decision date, it's looking like a late decision.
"Probably late signing period," he said.
North Carolina has already had Vaughn on campus for an unofficial visit and Roy Williams tracked him in July.
"I have a good relationship with them," Vaughn said. "They come to every game and they are recruiting me hard. I have a good relationship with the whole coaching staff."
Could UNC possibly get a return visit?
"I don't know," Vaughn said. "I've already been there so probably not."
UCLA also tracked Vaughn in Las Vegas. He visited the Bruins in July.
"I'm just building a relationship with them," Vaughn said. "I went for a visit at Pangos. I like their campus and I have a good relationship with coach [Steve] Alford."
Although Vaughn is planning to leave the state for Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep his final season of high school ball, returning home for college is certainly a possibility.
"That's always a big part," he said about Minnesota's proximity to home. "I have a good relationship coach Kimani [Young] and Richard [Pitino]. I like them a lot. I think he's going to change the program around."
Vaughn is currently regarded as the No. 11 overall recruit in the 2014 class.
