Interest Pours In for Snider

The nation's #29-ranked prospect became available when Quentin Snider opened up his recruitment Tuesday. Since then, he's fielded phone calls from a variety of schools and has picked up seven scholarship offers...

Quentin Snider and his father Scott have had a busy two days.

On Tuesday, the 6-foot-1 point guard out of Louisville (Ky.) Ballard decommitted from Louisville. Since then, high majors from coast to coast have been calling to inquire about the top 30 prospect.

"The first day within 15 or 20 minutes that the news came out we got phone calls until one in the morning," Scott Snider told Scout.com. "We woke up at eight the next day and we had a bunch more calls. It's pretty much gone non-stop until last night at 11."

Thus far Snider has picked up scholarship offers from Minnesota, Marquette, West Virginia, USC, Loyola Marymount, Illinois and Connecticut.

They have also fielded calls from Michigan State, UCLA, Indiana, Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Purdue, Xavier, Memphis, Butler and Iowa.

"Right now what we want to do is kind of go through the week and see who is going to offer," the elder Snider said. "Then from there, plan some visits and break it down and see who he is interested in."

"We are going to do our homework," he added.

Although Indiana hasn't offered yet, they are working to get Snider on campus at the end of August.

"We actually talked to them," he said. "They haven't offered him yet. I want to save our officials visits for schools that offered scholarships."

When asked about visiting the Hoosiers, he said, "We are going to. Indiana is an easy drive so we can do that unofficially."

But Indiana isn't the only schools expected to receive a visit in the near future.

"There are some other ones that we like," Snider said. "We just said we'd go visit [Indiana] because it'd be an unofficial and it's easy to do."

"We talked to Cincinnati and Xavier and we told them we'd go up," he added. "Anything we can drive to unofficially we are going to do and just save the officials."

UCLA's Steve Alford personally called Snider.

***Friday Update: UCLA has offered Snider.***

Snider is currently ranked No. 29 overall in the 2014 recruiting class.
