Seven Remain for Dastrup

Payton Dastrup, a 6-foot-10, 230-pound big man out of Arizona, narrowed his list of college choices to seven on Friday...

Payton Dastrup, a four-star prospect, is down to Kansas, BYU, Florida, Ohio State, Virginia, Arizona and UCLA.

"Based off a little bit of using the spring and summer viewing period and I based it on that and who was at my games," Dastrup told about cutting his list of schools to seven.

Now Dastrup, a 6-foot-10, 230-pound big man, is working on setting up college visits. The only visit set in stone is to Kansas.

"We haven't really talked to anybody yet," he said about visits. "We are going to base it on the football schedule."

"For Kansas, I plan on being at the Night of the Phog that they do on the 4th of October," he added. "Other than that we haven't set up anything."

Dastrup said the current plan is to visit all seven schools involved.

"I'm going to communicate with the coaches from each of the schools," he said. "I'm going to take official visits to Kansas, BYU, Florida, Ohio State and Virginia. The unofficials will to be Arizona and UCLA."

A standout at Mesa (Ariz.) Mountain View, Dastrup is currently ranked No. 84 overall in the 2014 class.

BRO Note: It's significant that Dastrup plans to take his Mormon Mission directly out of high school. If he does, and is gone for two years, his recruitment would then open back up again.
