Baker Knows His Visits

The Bellevue (Wash.) safety, Budda Baker, knows when he'd like to take his official visits...

Bellevue (Wash.) safety Budda Baker (5-10, 176), reshuffled his top five when Texas A&M offered.

The four-star got an assist from his teammate at The Opening, quarterback Kyle Allen, who's committed to the Aggies.

Now Baker is hoping to visit College Station for the most intriguing game on the schedule in the month of September.

"I'm probably going to take the majority of my trips after the season," said Baker. "But I might take the one to Texas A&M for the Alabama game."

The Aggies moved into his top five and Notre Dame moved out, and Baker said Allen was instrumental in getting the Aggies involved.

"Kyle helped a lot and he told me that he gave them word on me," said Baker. "Coach Sumlin gave me the official offer after they looked at my stuff and my highlights. He said they loved it. They're recruiting me as an athlete."

Baker insists that the five schools that make up his top five, Arizona State, Oregon, Texas A&M, UCLA and Washington are all even.

"I know people say that I have a favorite or I'm leaning towards one school, but all five schools are even," said Baker. "I don't have a favorite right now."

Baker visited Washington over the weekend, taking in the Huskies' practice, and spending time with the coaches.

"They're definitely recruiting me the hardest," said Baker. "They don't want me to leave because they're the home school. The whole staff is recruiting me. When we went to practice, it was real crazy to go on the field because it made me think of my upcoming game with Skyline (at Husky Stadium)."

But Baker said the other schools on his list are working hard to recruit him too.

"Arizona State, Oregon and UCLA are all on me hard too," said Baker. "I'm going to visit all three of them officially, but I might take unofficials during the season because I can probably get there and then take the officials after the season."

Baker said that more schools are recruiting him as an athlete, and though he once wanted strictly to play defense, a stellar performance at The Opening on both sides of the ball has made him more open to offense.

"Whatever will help the team and it really depends on how fast I could get on the field for each position," said Baker. "I'm getting recruited as an athlete mostly, but UCLA is recruiting me strictly as a DB."

Baker said he's got an idea for when he wants to announce.

"Hopefully at the Army Bowl, if I can get my officials in before the Army Bowl," said Baker. "But if I have to wait for the visits, I'll decide after."
