Plattenburg Sets Visit No. 2

Houston (Texas) Lamar defensive back John Plattenburg set up his second official visit of the year earlier today and is set to check out another one of his favorites this weekend...

John Plattenburg is one of the nation's elite corner prospects. He transferred back to Texas a few months ago after playing the last two years at Corona (Calif.) Centennial.

Plattenburg has talked about making an early commitment and that could still happen but it sounds like he won't go public with it until later in the season.

"I'm going to visit Washington this weekend for an unofficial visit," Plattenburg said. "It's going to be pretty low key, I just want to hang out, see the new stadium and watch the game. I don't want to do the whole campus tour or anything so that's why I made it an unofficial visit and not an official.

"I'm looking forward to it and I know I'll have a good time. I also set a trip to Oregon and that will be an official. I've never been there before so it should be a great time. I'm going for the Tennessee game (Sept. 14) and I also have Wisconsin set for (Oct. 11)."

Plattenburg said he's also hoping to set a visit to California shortly and continues to have high interest in UCLA as well.

"I could give a silent in the next few weeks but I don't want to go public until after I take a few official visits," Plattenburg said. "It could be after the Oregon or just whenever I feel ready. My mom and I have done a lot of research and now it's on me to make a decision. I still don't know just yet what I'm going to do but I should have a good idea after a few more trips."
