Big Hoops Recruiting Weekend

UCLA basketball will have its first big recruiting weekend starting today, with two official visitors.

Quentin Snider, the 6-1 point guard from Louisville (Kent.) Ballard, will arrive Friday. Snider had been a verbal commitment to Louisville for sometime and then de-committed this month. Since then UCLA has been on him pretty aggressively. He also has visits arranged to Memphis, Connecticut and Illinois, and the family is working on a trip to Michigan State, which recently offered. Sources around the recruitment say that UCLA feels Snider could verbally commit this weekend to the Bruins, but other sources feel he's not going to make a quick decision, having just recently de-committed from Louisville.

Trevon Bluiett, the 6-5 small forward from Indianapolis (Ind.) Park Tudor, will also take his official visit to Westwood. Right now, it looks like the Bruins are the leader, and a verbal this weekend is a definite possibility. He's arranged a visit for next weekend with Purdue, and is also considering Xavier, Michigan and Butler. It had been thought that Michigan was UCLA's main competition, but we heard that it could be local Butler as well as Xavier. The buzz has been for a while that UCLA is expecting Bluiett to verbally commit this weekend.

Reid Travis, the 6-6 power forward from Minneapolis (Minn.) De La Salle, had previously planned to visit UCLA this weekend, but that visit has been re-scheduled for sometime in September.

Justise Winslow, the 6-5 small forward from Houston (Tex.) St. John's, had indicated he, too, could visit this weekend but we've learned that visit will also happen on a different date.
