Bruins Still On Wright

Namon Wright, one of the elite guards in the west for 2014, says the UCLA staff is still in touch with him. He has a visit planned to a WAC school this weekend...

Namon Wright, 6-4 SR SG Los Angeles (Calif.) Pacific Hills, gave us an update recently on his recruitment.

"I'm going to UTEP on September 6th for an official visit," said Wright. "I'm hearing a lot from Oregon, UCLA, Arizona State, Fresno State and Gonzaga."

I asked Wright if he has plans for any other visits.

"I'll probably take an unofficial to UCLA sometime, but don't have a date yet," said Wright. "I'm taking an official to ASU later in September. I'm supposed to go to Gonzaga at some point but we haven't figured out a date yet."

I asked Wright if he has a feel for which schools have been recruiting him the hardest.

"Coach Floyd and Coach Sendek have been on me the most consistently, regardless of how I was playing," said Wright. "So probably UTEP and ASU have been recruiting me the hardest."

I asked Wright where he stands with the earlier offer from UCLA.

"Well they offered me a while ago, but we haven't really talked about it much since then," said Wright. "They said they want to come out and see me in practice."

When questioned about the factors that will be important to him when picking a school, Wright replied, "The style of play, who they have coming in and then whether or not they are showing a strong interest in me."

Wright said he doesn't see himself signing in November.

"I don't think I want to sign in November," said Wright. "I want to wait and see how things go, which schools are serious about me and then commit sometime later."
