Commitment Analysis: Denzel Fisher

UCLA received another cornerback commitment last night from Denzel Fisher, who gives the Bruins rare size at the cornerback position...

Profile: Denzel Fisher
Position: Cornerback
Location: Compton (Calif.) Centennial
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 170-pounds

Ranking: Three-star cornerback, ranked #40 nationally.

Recruiting: Fisher chose UCLA from a top three that include Utah and Washington State.

The Scouting Report: Fisher is a long and lean corner, every bit the 6-2 he's listed at, who won the DB MVP at the Los Angeles NFTC.  He showed good flexibility, a smooth backpedal and quick hips and with his length, broke up a ton of passes.  He struggled with a back injury late in spring, that slowed him, but he had a good showing at the UCLA Elite Camp and then carried it over into the offseason, putting him in contention for the Bruin offer he ultimately got.

Overall Analysis: He was under-the-radar until the Los Angeles NFTC, and then things picked up for him.  UCLA was his dream school from the get-go and they told him to camp there, which he did.  He didn't get the offer then, but was told to be patient.  As soon as film from his preseason scrimmage got out, UCLA offered.  After taking in the UCLA opener against Nevada, Fisher needed but a couple of days before he committed.  His upside is off the charts and as he continues to add weight, he'll have a chance to get on the field and he's that long, tall corner that Jim Mora and Demetrice Martin covet.
