Snider Enjoys Illinois Visit

After visiting UCLA last weekend, 2014 point guard Quentin Snider visited Illinois this weekend and will have both schools in home this week...

Quentin Snider, one of the top available point guards, took an official visit to Illinois this past weekend.

"It was good," Scott Snider, Quentin's father told Scout.com. "[John] Groce reminds me of one of the young, hungry coaches. He liked it a lot, man. He spent his whole birthday with us. To me that shows how hungry he is."

"[Quentin] definitely liked the visit," he continued. "He really liked the players. [Coach Groce] was genuine with us. The players said the way he acted around us is how he is."

Snider said the Illinois staff mapped out a plan for son's future.

"He showed us a year round plan for Q," he said. "He had it all nailed down, for even when he goes home. He talked about how individual instruction would be different for every player based on their needs and that was important."

Snider said Illinois accompanied their visit change and they felt prioritized by the Illinois staff.

"The fact that he let us rearrange his visit [stood out]," Snider said. "He could have spent his birthday with his kids but he spent his whole birthday with Quentin. That shows how much he really wants him and really needs him."

Snider took an official visit to UCLA last weekend. Illinois is obviously much closer to his home in Louisville (Ky.). How does distance factor into this decision?

"Distance will play into it a little," Snider said. "With Illinois it'd be easier to watch games, especially with them playing Indiana and Ohio State. Those are games we can get in the car and watch. But we still want to figure out what the best decision is."

What's the next step with this process?

"We are going to go home and talk about it and think about it some more," Snider said.

The Snider's will host John Groce for an in-home visit on Monday. UCLA is set to go in-home on Tuesday, and UCLA's Steve Alford will be conducting that visit.

Michigan State, Connecticut and USC are also involved in Snider's recruitment. They currently have a visit schedule to Michigan State this weekend. Connecticut is set for the weekend of September 22nd.
