Riggins Still Looks for an Offer

Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian running back D.J. Riggins is still hoping for some Pac-12 interest during his senior season...

D.J. Riggins had a great spring/summer on the 7 on 7 circuit and showed last Friday that he can definitely get it done with the pads on as well. Riggins scored four touchdowns, three rushing, one receiving and showed why he's one of the top all-purpose backs in the area.

The athlete ran with power and quickness, caught the ball well out of the backfield and showed better top end speed than given credit for on a 69 yard catch and run in the 1st half.

"I play every game with a chip on my shoulder," Riggins said. "I practice that way too because I want to show coaches that I can be a dominant player. I don't want to look like just a regular player out there, I want to show I'm someone who can dominate at this level and be a major contributor in college as well.

"I don't ever want to be just another number on the bench so every time I play, I'm out to prove something. I want to show that I'm a player that can do big things and so far, I think I've done that. I have six touchdowns in two games and my plan is to get my tape out after week four and hopefully that will draw more attention."

On the recruiting front, Hawaii has offered Riggins and he's hearing from a few other programs as well.

"Hawaii is big and I'm going to try and get out there for my official visit in two weeks," Riggins said. "I'm also hearing from most of the Pac 12 right now, mainly Washington, Washington State, Utah, UCLA and Oregon State. They call me once a week or as often as they can and tell me they're watching me and wanting to see my game tape.

"I want to get out to some games if I can, hopefully these schools will offer an official but if not, I'll do an unofficial. I want to check out Oregon State and Utah and I was just at UCLA last week. Growing up in Los Angeles, I like UCLA a lot. I like the coaches and my cousin, Ismael Adams goes there and there are quite a few players from Oaks there too so it would be great to play with them in college."
