Bruins Still On Ihenacho

The Gardena (Calif.) Serra safety, Glen Ihenacho, continues to hear from UCLA weekly...

Gardena (Calif.) Serra safety Glen Ihenacho (6-0, 185), has been spending a lot of time on the phone of late.

"I'm getting a lot of calls, mostly from the schools that have offered," said Ihenacho. "I'm not really sure all of the calls, but I know recently Arizona State, Illinois, Colorado, Washington, UCLA, Oregon State and Hawaii have all called."

Arizona State and Colorado, in fact, have been the most aggressive recruiting Ihenacho.

"I'd say probably Arizona State and Colorado are recruiting me the hardest right now," said Ihenacho. "I was just talking to Coach (Charles) Clark (Colorado's DB coach), in fact."

Several Colorado coaches, including head coach Mike MacIntyre, coached his older brothers at San Jose State, and one of them, Duke, is now a safety with the Denver Broncos.

"That actually has some affect on my recruitment, but not too much because things could change," said Ihenacho about the familiarity with the Buffs coaching staff and his brother being nearby.

Ihenacho said he's hoping to take his official visits in the coming months.

"I've talked to Miami about one briefly and Washington, Arizona State and Colorado about one but I haven't set any up officially," said Ihenacho. "I'm planning to take during the season, when the schedule allows.

Ihenacho will be at UCLA's next home game, against New Mexico State, having to miss the opener against Nevada because Serra was playing that same night.

"I talk to Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin) and Coach (Adrian) Klemm every week," said Ihenacho.

Ihenacho said he continues to hear coaches say that he could plug in to any spot in the secondary.

"I'm being recruited all over the secondary, so I'm open to safety and corner and some like me as a nickel and want to use the versatility," said Ihenacho.

Academically, Ihenacho is fully qualified.
