Hamilton, the #31-ranked player in the national class of 2013, signed the NLI with UTEP, but has since been public about wanting to be released from it. He appealed to the NLI Committee, but was turned down in his first appeal.
He will attempt to take the same approach as Eddie Vanderdoes did -- enroll at UCLA and either sit out this season and lose a year of eligibility or be granted a release of the UTEP NLI on appeal.
Hamilton is citing the poor health of his grandmother as the reason he wants to be close to home for college.
Hamilton was admitted to UCLA Friday morning and, according to sources, intends to enroll. Oregon and other west coast programs have been trying to get him, but the word is that he wants to be at UCLA.
