UCLA Prospect Recap: Week Two

A look at how UCLA's commits and recruits did in week two action...

Game of the Week: Long Beach Poly def. Corona Centennial, 35-28
The high-powered Centennial offense was overshadowed by a stifling Poly defense.  A week after putting up 759 yards on St. Bonaventure, Centennial was held to just 287 yards of total offense and held Tre Watson to only 48 yards on 23 carries with a touchdown.  Elite 2015 junior cornerback Iman Marshall, one of UCLA's top targets, held UCLA commit Barry Ware without a catch.  Another key UCLA target, Juju Smith from Poly, ran for a touchdown and caught a screen pass for a touchdown.

St. John Bosco def. Chandler (Ariz.), 52-31
Down 28-10, St. John Bosco stormed back from an early deficit despite losing Josh Rosen to an injury, and beat Chandler behind a 35-point second half outburst.  Rosen was 9-for-12 for 130 yards with a touchdown before going out with an injury and backup Andrew Katnick was 10-for-11 with two touchdown tosses.  Chandler quarterback Bryce Perkins (Paul's brother) was 25-for-38 for 255 yards and a touchdown and ran for 126 yards and a touchdown while UCLA receiver recruit Dionte Sykes had two catches for 30 yards in the loss.

Gardena Serra def. Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 20-13
Serra scored on an 80-yard touchdown pass from Boise State commit Jalen Greene to five-star UCLA target Adoree Jackson to force overtime and then Greene and Jackson connected on a 25-yard touchdown in overtime to give the Cavs the win.  UCLA recruit Koa Farmer, who's committed to Cal, put the Knights up in the final minutes with a 50-yard touchdown before Jackson tied it up.

Orange Lutheran def. Palmdale, 21-6
Junior defensive end Keisean Lucier-South had four tackles, two tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries in a win over Palmdale.

Anaheim Servite def. La Mirada, 38-14
Jack Savage, the son of UCLA baseball coach John Savage, had seven tackles and Scout 300 receiver Equanimeous St. Brown caught a 10-yard touchdown pass in the win for the Friars.  La Mirada quarterback Kevin Dillman was 11-for-19 for 73 yards and an interception and four-star receiver Dallis Todd and four-star tight end Tyler Luatua were held to five catches for 40 yards combined in the loss.

El Cerrito def. Santa Rosa Cardinal Newman, 35-7
New UCLA commit Adarius Pickett blocked a field goal and scooped it for a 75-yard touchdown return and added a five-yard touchdown run while also forcing a fumble on a big hit to help El Cerrito rebound from their first loss.

Corona Santiago def. Elsinore, 35-21
2015 quarterback Blake Barnett was 23-for-34 for 298 yards and four touchdowns with an interception and the Sharks defense, with UCLA commit Ron Robinson, shut down the Elsinore offense.

West Hills Chaminade def. Valencia, 56-34
Brad Kaaya was 16-for-23 for 435 yards and four touchdowns, Donovan Lee ran for 182 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown and caught four passes for 139 yards and a touchdown in the rout.

Carmel (Ind.) def. Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence Central, 17-7
UCLA commit Austin Roberts caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from quarterback John Lampe for the game-winning score.

Smiths (Ala.) Station def. Auburn (Ala.), 38-14
Auburn, behind UCLA commit Antreal Allen and their chief linebacker target, Rashaan Evans, lost to Smiths Station. Allen had three tackles and an interception while Evans had five tackles, two for loss, a sack and a pick in the loss.

UCLA commit Denzel Fisher and Compton Centennial lost to Lancaster Paraclete, 38-6. Elk Grove (Calif.) Cosumnes Oaks receiver Alex Van Dyke beat Elk Grove (Calif.) Franklin, 24-13.  Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch offensive lineman Kammy Delp lost to Chino Hills (Calif.) Ayala, 19-16.  Lompoc (Calif.) defensive tackle Ainuu Taua topped Santa Maria (Calif.) Pioneer Valley, 33-0.
