UCLA Continues to Recruit Wadood

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco defensive back Jaleel Wadood has had an interesting recruitment, already committing to two schools, and he's still talking to more...

Jaleel Wadood is one of the top defensive backs in the nation and does everything well. He has a corner frame but plays safety at the H.S level and his football instincts and playmaking skills are as good as anyone in the region.

Wadood committed to California at The Opening after narrowing his choices to also include UCLA and USC. The athlete did say he would take his official visits and will head to the NW this weekend.

"I'm going to check out Oregon State," Wadood said. "They were actually the very first school to offer me so I wanted to show my respect to them by taking a visit. I've never been there before so I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like and talking to the coaches there.

"I'm planning to take all five trips but this is the only one I have locked in right now. I also want to visit Cal of course, UCLA, Washington and Oregon but like I said, I don't have any dates with any of those schools and I'm not sure if I'll be talking them during the season or after."

Wadood said his commitment to Cal remains very solid.

"Oh yeh, I'm just taking these visits for the experience," Wadood said. "You only go through this once so I want to enjoy but I'm solid with Cal and I like what they're doing. I have a great relationship with the coaches there and I fit in really well there.

"I enjoy going out to games though, it's fun for me. I visited USC and I'll probably be at the next UCLA home game, which I think might be against Cal. It's all part of the experience but I'm happy with my commitment and looking forward to finishing off a great senior season at Bosco here."
