Ihenacho Still Hears From UCLA

2014 Gardena (Calif.) Serra safety Glen Ihenacho is being recruited by many of the top Pac-12 programs, and is still hearing from the Bruins...

Glen Ihenacho is a hard hitting safety prospect and one of the leaders of the Cavalier defense. He can play either safety spot, runs well and has good cover skills but his best asset is delivering a blow and he had several bone jarring tackles in Serra's dominant 36-0 win over a very solid West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade team last Friday.

"To be honest, I expected to come out here and dominate," Ihenacho said. "We had a great week of practice and this is the game we've been waiting to play since the summer. We were real intense all week and in the locker room before the game started so I had a feeling we would play well and we did.

"We watched a lot of film of those guys and I just feel like we matched up well with them. Their strengths are our strengths, on both sides of the ball, so I was confident we would play one of our best games and that's what happened."

On the recruiting front, Ihenacho gave serious thought to committing to Washington about a month ago but said he's now going back to square one.

"I've decided to go back to the beginning and start all over again," Ihenacho said. "Washington was my childhood favorite school, I like them a lot but I've kind of lost touch with the coaches there and haven't really talked with them recently. Right now, I have trips set up with Arizona State and Washington State.

"The ASU visit will be (Nov. 30) when they host Arizona. I forgot the date of the Washington State visit but it will be sometime during the season as well. I'm still talking with UCLA a lot too and have a good relationship with Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin).

"We click really well and he's a good guy. There are other schools I'm talking with still, Miami is calling me and a few others and I'm open to everyone right now. Like I said, I'm starting over and have no plans to make a decision any time soon."
