McGraw to Wait Until Signing Day

River Ridge (La.) John Curtis defensive back Mattrell McGraw has a top three of Florida State, UCLA, and Oregon...

Saturday night's primetime showdown between Florida State and Clemson held Mattrell McGraw's attention.

"That was great," he said. "It was a great game for Florida State. They played hard. It's important for a team to show they can hang with the big dogs like that. Florida State is in the thick of things with me - along with Oregon and UCLA.

"The big wins like that help a little bit with recruiting, but you have to remember that college football is crazy. A school can be inside the top 25 one year and outside the next."

McGraw wants to make sure everyone is aware that he isn't basing his decision on the winner of the upcoming Oregon/UCLA game.

"A lot of people think the winner of that game will play a big role in the outcome of my recruitment," he said, "but that's not the case. I'm going to watch and analyze the game, but I'm not picking a school just based on one game.

"A lot of people have been asking me about UCLA and Oregon. I like both schools; both could lose a lot of players to the NFL draft. UCLA had a great start to the season and lost a rivalry game to Stanford...they're competing against good schools."

McGraw identified some of his favorite coaches at his three favorite schools.

"Coach (John) Neal From Oregon; Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt from Florida State; Coach (Demetrice) Martin and Coach (Jim) Mora from UCLA," he said. "Those are some of my favorite recruiters.

"They're all recruiting me the same. We talk once a week on the phone. Everyone knows where they stand. They keep in contact with me and know that I'm going to wait and announce on National Signing Day."

McGraw said he frequently discusses FSU and UCLA with teammates Kenny Young and Malachi Dupre.
