Prospect Preview: Week Nine

A look at the week nine matchups featuring UCLA commits and targets...

Game of the Week:  Santa Ana Mater Dei vs. St. John Bosco
Bosco has an embarrassment of riches with 13 players holding Div I offers. Jaleel Wadood is the No. 3 corner in the west but the California commit will play safety for the Braves and is one of the most dynamic players in the region. Naijiel Hale, the No. 5 corner in the region, has committed to Arizona and rush end Malik Dorton, among the state's top pass rushers, has committed to USC. Wide out Shay Fields recently switched his commitment from Boise State to USC and cornerback Chandler Hawkins has committed to Air Force. The top recruit on the team is massive offensive lineman Damien Mama. Mama is the nation's top guard prospect and has his choice of any school in the country. Jacob Tuioti-Mariner has gained 20 pounds since last season and has established himself as one of the region's premier defensive lineman and talented quarterback Josh Rosen is the No. 2 signal caller in the 2015 class and was just offered this week from Texas.  Washington commit Jonathan Lockett is one of the nation's elite corners and will also see time at receiver and is a threat to take it to the house returning punts and kicks as well. The Monarchs have a pair of 2015 Scout 300 members in tight end Kyle Penniston and two-way standout Ben Humphries. Humphries missed the last five weeks of the season with a knee injury but will be back for this one and should be a factor on both sides of the ball. He's a talented receiver and a playmakers at outside linebacker. Penniston has an early offer from Florida State and is a tough red zone matchup. Quarterback Chase Forrest is one of the state's top signal callers with an offer from Eastern Washington and running back Justin Allen is one of the most under-rated players in the state.

Gardena Serra vs. La Canada St. Francis
Serra continues Mission League play with all the players, eight with UCLA offers, including committed receiver Jordan Lasley, as well as five-star cornerback Adoree Jackson, four-star linebacker Dwight Williams, three-star safety Glenn Ihenacho, 2015 five-star linebacker John Houston, 2015 four-star defensive lineman Rasheem Green and 2015 four-star running back Malik Roberson (who is out for the year with an ACL injury) as well 2016 safety Brandon Burton.  St. Francis is coached by former UCLA quarterback Jimmy Bonds and quarterback Ty Gangi has a Bowling Green offer.

Corona Centennial vs. Corona Santiago
Two of the highest scoring teams in the Southern Section lock horns in Corona on Friday. Centennial is back on track since getting beaten by Long Beach Poly and Alemany early in the year, and Santiago has reeled off four straight wins since a heartbreaking one point loss to Upland in September. Centennial is led by quarterback Robert Webber who is one of the most productive players in the nation. He's over 2,000 yards passing this season, and at 400 yards rushing, his numbers are actually a little down this year. The reason they're down is running back Tre Watson (Cal) will go over 2,000 yards in this game. Opening the holes for him is Alabama commit Viane Talamaivao, and UCLA wide receiver commit Barry Ware helps stretch the defenses. The defense is led by USC commitment Austin Maloata. Santiago has seen their 4-Star junior quarterback Blake Barnett battle injuries this year. When he's healthy, wide receiver Jordan Huffman is a dangerous target. Safety Ron Robinson (UCLA) leads the defense.

Lompoc vs. Nipomo
With UCLA defensive line coach Angus McClure expected to be in attendance, Lompoc, with four-star defensive tackle Ainuu Taua, will take on Nipomo in a league game.

Pomona Diamond Ranch vs. Walnut
UCLA offensive line coach Adrian Klemm is expected to see three-star UCLA target Kammy Delp and Diamond Ranch.

West Hills Chaminade vs. Harvard-Westlake
Chaminade has a balanced attack led by Miami commitment Brad Kaaya at quarterback who was recently offered by UCLA and USC and running back Donovan Lee who has offers from Colorado and Colorado State among others as well as his 2016 brother, Dymond Lee, who has an offer from Miami.. Defensively, Chaminade is led by UCLA commit Jojo McIntosh.  Harvard-Westlake's top prospect is three-star offensive lineman David Hartmeier.

El Cerrito vs. St. Mary's
El Cerrito is led by UCLA commit Adarius Pickett, who's shining at both running back and cornerback for El Cerrito and he is joined by teammates D.J. Calhoun and Jalen Harvey, who've both committed to Arizona State.

Compton Centennial vs. El Segundo
UCLA commit Denzel Fisher, who also got a recent offer from USC, faces El Segundo in a league game.

Chandler (Ariz.) vs. Gilbert (Ariz.) Highland.
Chandler is keyed by UCLA commit Dionte Sykes and 2015 quarterback recruit Bryce Perkins and they take on Highland as their league schedule winds down.

Oakley Freedom vs. Anticoh
Freedom is led by five-star running back Joe Mixon, UCLA's top target at running back and he's joined by 2014 three-star defensive end Patrick Choudja and 2015 three-star lineman Dominic Fredrickson.

Elk Grove Cosumnes Oaks vs. Galt Liberty Ranch
Four-star 2014 receiver Alex Van Dyke who recently committed to UCLA, and 2015 four-star receiver L.J. Reed are one of the best 1-2 punches at receiver in the West.

Carmel (Ind.) vs. Fishers (Ind.)
Headlining Carmel is wide receiver Austin Roberts, who committed to UCLA this summer and they'll place Fishers in a first round playoff game in the Indiana State playoffs.

Auburn (Ala.) vs. Athens East Linestone
Auburn is led on defense by UCLA commit Antreal Allen in the secondary and one of their chief linebacker targets, Rashaan Evans.
