Oliver Talks on UCLA Visit

Cameron Oliver, a 2014 power forward from Northern California that UCLA is monitoring, recently took an unofficial visit to Westwood....

Cameron Oliver, 6-7 SR PF Sacramento (Calif.) Grant, missed his junior season with an ACL injury and he's just recently started to garner attention from a number of programs.

"The main ones I'm hearing from right now are Cal, Oregon, Arizona and UCLA," said Oliver.

When asked which programs have offered, Oliver replied, "Oregon and San Jose State have offered."

I asked Oliver if he has a sense for which programs are recruiting him the hardest.

"I'd say Oregon and Cal," said Oliver.

Oliver took an unofficial visit to UCLA on Sunday.

"It was pretty good," said Oliver. "It's a nice campus."

Asked for his impression of the Bruin staff, Oliver replied, "They were good. Everyone was pretty friendly."

Oliver has also been to Cal and I asked for his impression of that visit.

"Cal was pretty good," said Oliver. "It's like a home away from home for me and I've been there many times."

I asked Oliver about the factors that will be important when he chooses a school.

"I want a family oriented program where it feels like home," said Oliver. "Academics are important. As far as early playing time, yes, that's something I'm looking at but it's not a huge factor. I'm going to have to earn minutes wherever I go."

Oliver said he doesn't plan on signing in the early signing period.

"I'm going to wait until spring to sign," said Oliver.
