Mixon's Busy Visit Schedule

The Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back, Joe Mixon, will take a couple of unofficial visits, with all five of his official visits taken...

Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back Joe Mixon wrapped up his official visit slate when he visited Florida State over the weekend.

It was the fifth, and final visit for the five-star.

"Man, it was nice down there, I had a good time," said Mixon. "It was my first time going down to Florida and it was just nice down there."

Mixon was hosted by Karlos Williams on his visit and also spent time with James Wilder.

"I hung with James for a while and Karlos hosted me down there," said Mixon.

Mixon also spent a lot of his time with Noles coaching staff.

"I talked a lot with Coach (Jay) Graham and I remember him when he was at Tennessee. He's real cool," said Mixon. "I also got to have a 1on1 with Coach (Jimbo) Fisher and talked with him for a while and he's really cool."

Mixon said the atmosphere in Tallahassee left a big impression.

"Man, it was crazy and it was super loud," said Mixon. "They got real loud and live in there. The crowd got really into it."

Overall, Mixon had high marks for the trip.

"I'd give it a 10," said Mixon. "The environment was really good down there. It was probably one of my best visits."

Mixon said the Noles are right there with Oklahoma and Wisconsin atop his leaderboard, schools he visited in October. Washington and Cal also received visits from him in September.

With his official visits done, Mixon will try to squeeze in a couple more unofficial visits before the decision is announced in January.

"I'm going to take an unofficial to UCLA and to Arizona State and I might try and take another unofficial to Oklahoma," said Mixon. "I'm still announcing at the Army Bowl."

This week, Freedom takes on Brentwood (Calif.) Liberty, a must-win game for Freedom in order to make the CIF-NCS playoffs.
