Tuioti-Mariner is a talented volleyball player and plays for Bosco's Trinity League Championship squad. As a result, he has never worked out with the football team in the spring, making what he has been able to do on the football field this season all the more impressive.
Wit his size, athleticism and growth potential, it's easy to envision Tuioti-Mariner as an athletic 6-4, 290-300 pound tackle who can move inside or outside down the road.
On the recruiting front, Tuioti-Mariner took his first official visit of the year to Boise State last weekend.
"The visit was great, I loved it out there," Tuioti-Mariner said. "I loved being around the players and the coaches. The environment and game atmosphere was crazy and the visit definitely surprised me by how much I liked it out there.
"The best part of the visit for me was probably just being around the players on the team and getting to know the coaches. They really made me feel comfortable, like part of the family. The football complex is really nice and Boise is a cool college town. It was a little cold but wasn't that bad, it's nothing I couldn't get used to."
Tuioti-Mariner said he spent some quality time with Andy Avalos, the DL coach, who he already had a connection with.
"He's from Corona and went to school with some of my family," Tuioti-Mariner said. "He actually knows my family pretty well so that was real cool. I also spent time with the Coach Kwiatkowski, the DC and he's a great guy as well as a great coach too.
"Coach Petersen is awesome and it was great meeting him. I actually just talked to him over the phone earlier tonight so my mom could talk with him. I really like him as a coach. He seems like he cares for his players so much and that's important to me."
Tuioti-Mariner said the visit went so well in fact, he gave serious thought to end the recruiting process early.
"I did think about committing," Tuioti-Mariner said. "I was close, especially after seeing Troy Bacon do it. When he committed, I almost did too but I know I need to take a few more visits. I didn't want to make an emotional decision and commit so early, but man, it was close.
"My next trip will be to Fresno State, I don't have the exact date but it will be pretty soon. I think I'm still going to visit Wisconsin and Arizona will likely be next month as well. I talked to Coach Klemm at UCLA tonight too and I'm going to their game Saturday. "He told me they're really interested so hopefully they'll offer. It would be great to have the opportunity to stay close to home and play in front of my family. If they offer, great, if they don't, that's fine too because I have some great other options as well."
