Fisher Still Solid to UCLA

Compton (Calif.) Centennial defensive back Denzel Fisher took an official visit to Washington State this past weekend, but says he's still committed to UCLA...

Denzel Fisher is a UCLA commit who announced for the Bruins back in the fall but always said he wanted to take his official visits. He tripped to Utah a few weeks ago and checked out Washington State this past weekend.

"It was very nice out there, I had a good time," Fisher said. "It was cool visiting with my boys, Shead (Rahshead Johnson) and GMan (Darren Gardenhire). We all played Pop Warner together and Daquan (Brown) is my god-brother so it was great seeing him and hanging out all weekend.

"I really liked the campus a lot and I met some great people out there. They have a great coaching staff, coach Simmons is the one recruiting me and I like him a lot. The game atmosphere was live and the team looked really good out there. The coaches talked about the early playing time available and I definitely can see that."

Despite the strong visit, Fisher said his commitment to UCLA remains strong.

"I'm still UCLA," Fisher said. "I know they have a few DB commits already, schools are pointing that out and I can see that but it doesn't matter to me. That doesn't mean a thing to me because you have to compete wherever you go and that's what I'm about.

"I still have three trips left and I'm going to visit Oregon State and of course UCLA. I don't know about the 5th one yet, I'm keeping that one open. I'll be at USC this weekend for the UCLA game and that should be a great one. Both teams are playing well but of course I'm pulling for UCLA."
