Prospect Recap: Week Twelve

We look at how UCLA's commits and recruits did in playoff action...

Game of the Week:  Long Beach Poly def. St. Bonaventure, 44-8
Behind the play of five-star Juju Smith, Poly had no problem with the Seraphs and moved on to the CIF-SS Pac-5 semifinals.  Smith had a 62-yard touchdown run and a nine-yard touchdown reception in the rout.  Alabama commit Ricky Town struggled all night, going 11-for-19 for 80 yards with two interceptions, though he did have a 15-yard touchdown pass to UCLA target Bryce Dixon.

Bellflower St. John Bosco def. Tesoro, 55-7
Bosco had no problem in their CIF-SS Pac-5 playoff game, scoring five touchdowns in their first ten plays, including three of them in the first quarter from Jaleel Wadood, one of UCLA's top targets.  Wadood had a 63-yard touchdown run, a 20-yard touchdown reception and a 14-yard touchdown reception in the quarter.  Five-star quarterback Josh Rosen threw for 252 yards and four touchdowns in the half.

Upland def. Corona Santiago, 30-29
For the second time this year, Upland knocked off Santiago in a tight one.  Freshman sensation Nathan Tilford ran for 111 yards for Upland and quarterback Tyler Hilinski was 11-for-16 for 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns. UCLA commit Ron Robinson had five tackles in the loss.

Gardena Serra def. Buena, 40-6
Serra had no problem with a bad Buena team, getting over 100 yards in offense from Adoree Jackson and a pair of touchdowns, sacks from Dwight Williams and Rasheem Green and seven tackles and a fumble recovery from John Houston, all UCLA targets.

West Hills Chaminade def. Ventura, 36-3
Chaminade was tested by a gritty and gutty Ventura squad, before breaking the game open in the second half.  Brad Kaaya was 12-for-15 for 105 yards, Donovan Lee ran for 156 yards and three touchdowns and Jojo McIntosh, a UCLA commit, helped lead the Eagles defense against the Cougars.

Houston (Texas) Lamar def. Houston (Texas) Alief Taylor, 36-0
Just a few days after committing to UCLA, John Plattenburg helped Lamar pitch a shutout in the state playoffs.  Plattenburg had four tackles and a pass breakup in the win.

El Cerrito def. Novato, 45-2
El Cerrito got another huge night from UCLA commit Adarius Pickett, who finished with 86 yards rushing on 11 carries and had 133 yards receiving on four catches. Pickett had a 1-yard touchdown run and a 22-yard touchdown run and added a 16-yard touchdown reception and a 65-yard touchdown reception.

Corona Centennial def. Temecula Chaparral
Centennial running back Tre Watson was held in check, with just 39 yards on 17 carries, so Centennial won through the air.  The UCLA target Watson still had a touchdown run.

Los Angeles View Park def. Los Angeles Douglass, 50-0
Led by newest UCLA verbal Cameron Griffin, View Park rolled to the semifinals of the City Section playoffs.  Griffin had 70 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, had 12 tackles, two tackles for loss, two hurries and a sack in the win.

Lompoc def. Santa Monica, 42-10
Lompoc and UCLA target Ainuu Taua had no problem with Santa Monica and moved on to the CIF-SS Western Division semifinals.

Auburn (Ala.) def. Carver (Ala.), 42-35
Auburn got six tackles from UCLA commit and two sacks from UCLA target Rashaan Evans as Auburn held on in the state playoffs.

Galena Park (Texas) North Shore def. Fort Bend Hightower, 61-0
Galena Park (Texas) North Shore with UCLA commit Najee Toran crushed Hightower to move on in the Texas State playoffs.  Toran also signed his agreement papers with UCLA.

Seasons Complete
Compton Centennial cornerback Denzel Fisher has completed his senior season.  Elk Grove Cosumnes Oaks receiver Alex Van Dyke has completed his senior season. Pomona Diamond Ranch offensive lineman Kammy Delp has completed his senior season.  Chandler receiver Dionte Sykes has completed his senior season.  Sarasota (Fla.) Booker running back Marlon Mack's season is complete.
