Tuioti-Mariner Has Clear Leader

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco defensive lineman Jacob Tuioti-Mariner has had a big senior season and clearly established himself as one of the top defensive line prospects in the West this year...

Jacob Tuioti-Mariner was just elevated to four star status a couple of weeks ago and deservedly so after showing the size, strength and athleticism to play inside or outside at the next level. He has all the physical tools you're looking for in a next level lineman and showed up big for the Braves in their win over a tough Corona (Calif.) Centennial team last Saturday night (game clips here) Tuioti-Mariner-Saturday Night.

On the recruiting front, the lineman was just offered by local favorite UCLA a week ago and although the Bruins lead, Tuioti-Mariner said he's not close to making a decision.

"I like UCLA a lot, they're my leader but I want to do some visits," Tuioti-Mariner said following the game Saturday night. "My older brothers, who all went through the process, told me I owed it to myself to take all my visits and go through the process so that's what I'm going to do.

"I want to check out Washington, Washington State and UCLA. Washington just offered me today and me and my mom are calling Coach Petersen tonight to lock in a visit date. I'm also going to visit Washington State and I'm going to visit UCLA as well. Even though they're local, they want me to visit so I'm going to do that.

Washington could be a potential dark horse in this one. The lineman had a great visit to Boise State when Petersen was the head coach and if he does decide he wants to leave home, a big if right now, the Huskies could be the team to beat.
