And this Saturday, during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Mixon will announce his commitment to either the Sooners, the Bruins or the Badgers.
There had been speculation that Mixon might add some drama to his announcement, and announce for a school not in his top three.
But he insisted that isn't the case.
"There is no other school coming into the picture," said Mixon. "There is not any thing coming like that."
Mixon spoke glowingly about each of his top three.
Wisconsin:: "It's a good school for me. They run the ball a lot. I could get a good education around it and the perks that go with it. Coach Hammock and (head) Coach (Gary) Andersen are recruiting me for Wisconsin. It wouldn't be bad for Melvin Gordon to be there, if I go there, because he'd be a good mentor for me. I talked to him on my visit and he's a good dude."
Oklahoma: "I know I could come in early and at least compete for a starting job early. Coach (Cale) Gundy and (head) Coach (Bob) Stoops are recruiting me for Oklahoma. I had a great time on my visit. Coach Gundy and Coach Stoops are two that are recruiting me the hardest. And Natrell Curtis (who's considering Oklahoma strongly), is recruiting me hard there."
UCLA: "It's pretty much the same situation with Oklahoma, I can play early. Coach (Adrian) Klemm and head Coach (Jim) Mora are recruiting me for UCLA. Coach (Kennedy) Polamalu is a cool dude too. I just really get to know his whole background as a coach and he's a good dude and was telling me about who he's coached. Coach Mora is recruiting me the hardest. Jaleel Wadood is too a whole bunch."
"Since I'm done with my visits now, it's down to just those three," said Mixon. "I'm so ready to be done. I'm sure it's going to be another month of craziness but I'm done with the situation when I commit. I feel comfortable with whatever situation I'm in and wherever I commit to."
For Mixon, who we first saw as a sophomore at the Oakland NFTC in 2012, it's been quite a ride.
"It's been crazy," said Mixon. "A lot of people doubted me, and look where I'm at now. I'm here with the best of the best. I came here to compete and make a name for myself more and more."
