US Army Update: Solomon Thomas

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Five-star defensive end Solomon Thomas discusses his recruitment at the U.S. Army Bowl practice...

Solomon Thomas, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end from Coppell (Texas) High, has paired his list of over 50 offers down to a final five of Arkansas, Ohio State, Stanford, Texas and UCLA.

"The process is such a blessing and then it is really tough," Thomas said. "A lot of top schools (offered). They tell kids every day no. It is still hard sometimes to say no to them.

"It (recruiting process) is a blessing and I like it a lot."

People have recently speculated Thomas prefers the West Coast and that he will end up at Stanford, and if not Stanford it will be UCLA.

"I don't know, because I really truly myself don't know, so when I hear people say that it makes me laugh, because I do not even know myself where I want to go," Thomas reported. UCLA was new to his list of favorites. It was also his most recent official visit.

"Really during the season I did not talk to them too much because I told most schools that I would not respond too much because I am really focusing on the state and being with my team," Thomas began. "After the season I called Coach Klemm and decided I was going to take an official visit there."

Thomas enjoyed his time on the Bruins' campus.

"Really just hanging with the team and just the players and things like that," Thomas said of his official. "My friends are kind of like them and I like that a lot."

Thomas will round out his visit schedule in January.

"Stanford is the 12th, Arkansas on the 18th and Ohio State on the 25th."

Thomas also took a a few unofficial visits to Stanford and Ohio State during the season.

"Ohio State because I just really wanted to see what is like in Columbus on gameday and be around the team on a gameday. Stanford I just wanted to go out there and meet with some of the coaches," Thomas relayed.
