Chriss Hearing From UCLA

Marquese Chriss, a very promising 2015 forward from Northern California, has been hearing from the Bruin coaching staff...

Marquese Chriss, 6-8 JR PF Elk Grove (Calif.) Pleasant Grove, is one of the elite prospects in the West Coast class of 2015. A terrific athlete with a multi-dimensional game, Chriss has a very high upside. He's still young and maturing as a prospect, however, and sometimes loses focus in games. If he can learn to maintain his focus, and play with consistent intensity, he has a chance to be an elite player in college.

I spoke with Chriss recently and asked about the schools that are recruiting him.

"I'm hearing from Washington, Arizona State, Arizona, USC, Cal, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Gonzaga, UConn…that's pretty much it," said Chriss.

When asked which schools have offered, Chriss replied, "all of them except for UConn and UCLA."

Chriss said two schools have been recruiting him the hardest to date.

"Washington and Vanderbilt have been recruiting me the hardest," said Chriss.

I asked if he has had much contact with UCLA.

"Yeah, I've talked with them on the phone," said Chriss. "They're real cool. They've talked to me about coming down with my family and taking a visit at some point."

Chriss has taken visits to Cal and UNLV, with another visit coming up soon.

"I'm going to Washington for an official visit in two weeks," said Chriss.

When asked about the most important factors in his decision, Chriss replied, "the coaching staff and the education."

Chriss said he doesn't currently have a time frame in mind for making his decision.
