Carta-Samuels Probably Opening it Up

San Jose (Calif.) Bellarmine quarterback K.J. Carta-Samuels, who committed to Vanderbilt almost two years ago, will likely open things up in light of James Franklin leaving for Penn State...

K.J. Carta-Samuels committed to Vanderbilt way back in July of 2012 but with James Franklin all but a done deal to Penn State, the quarterback will open up his options.

"I still haven't heard anything official," Carta-Samuels said. "It looks like a done deal though and if so, I'm happy for him. He deserves this, he deserves this opportunity for sure. It makes sense for him, he's from there and I'm pretty sure he grew up adoring Penn State so I don't blame him.

"My brother Austyn (Vandy QB) is home with me now and he hasn't heard anything either, we're both just watching and waiting for it to become official. Once it does, I'm going to open up my recruitment. I'll still consider Vandy but without Coach Franklin there, I'm just not sure if I'll be able to see myself there."

Carta-Samuels said he'll definitely look at Penn State as well if Franklin wants him to follow.

"I'm going to be open to every option," Carta-Samuels said. "It's going to get very interesting for me. I haven't talked to many schools since I've been locked in with Vandy for so long. I'll gladly talk to anyone who has an opening, I won't shut any doors.

"I've heard both Boise State and UCLA could be interested and that would be awesome. Like I said, right now, I'm just waiting for the official word but once it comes in, I'll move forward and go from here."
