Mama Thinking About Two

Five-star Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco offensive guard Damien Mama has two more official visits left...

Five-star Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco offensive guard Damien Mama attended but did not participate in the Polynesian All-American Bowl this past weekend. In looking at him physically, Mama may have already trimmed down a bit from when we saw him last.

With his recruitment almost over, the guard has plans for two more official visits, and potentially one more unofficial visit.

"The next two weekends, I'm going to USC and BYU," Mama said. "I may try to take another unofficial visit to UCLA, but I'm not sure when that would be."

Mama was recently photographed with Juju Smith and Viane Talamaivao in USC jerseys, but he said it was just an unofficial visit photo and that he is not committed to USC. Perhaps not, but throughout the day at the bowl game, the PA Announcer jokingly referred to Mama as a USC commitment at various points.

He did say, though, that UCLA is still trying, and that the one thing keeping UCLA in the mix is Adrian Klemm.

"I have a great relationship with Coach Klemm," Mama said. "Most of the time we don't even talk about football. It's just talking about life, and all that sort of stuff. I feel I can completely relate to him, which is a great feeling to have."

Still, Mama said that he may cut his list to two at some point in the near future, and if he plans on sticking with his two official visits, that could leave UCLA on the outside looking in.

He'll likely have several coaching staffs coming in for in-home visits over the next couple of weeks, but he didn't know exactly when they'd be in.
