The highest-rated player Arkansas brought in this weekend won't let his choice out until national signing day on ESPN, but he did voice his enjoyment of his time with the Razorbacks.
Coppell, Texas, defensive end Solomon Thomas (6-3, 263) – a five-star prospect per Scout.com and a U.S. Army All-American – was in Fayetteville on his official visit Friday through Sunday.
"It's been a good visit," Thomas said. "I had a lot of fun just visiting with all the players and getting in with the coaches and talking with (new defensive line) Coach (Rory) Segrest and learning a lot about what he is like and his style. It's been a good visit."
Segrest, a former Philadelphia Eagles defensive line coach who was last at Samford, joined the staff two weeks ago.
"He is a really good coach," Thomas said. "He has different ways to teach things, which is really interesting and it works really well. He seems like a great guy."
Thomas, who had 12.5 sacks among his 78 tackles this past season, eliminated Texas and Ohio State last week and narrowed his choices to Arkansas, UCLA and Stanford.
"It's kind of crazy that so many people want to know where I am going to go," Thomas said. "It's also odd. It's just crazy really."
That includes anything he tweets being turned into that fan base's interpretation of him coming to their school.
One of those was a "FAMILY OVER EVERYTHING #FOE" tweet while on the Arkansas campus, where his older sister Ella is currently a student.
She was with him as well as his parents on his visit to Arkansas this weekend.
"They are so crazy that I can't even check my twitter sometime," Thomas said. "Like at the Catfish Hole (restauarant) in Fayetteville, they were going crazy. They (the Razorbacks) have an amazing fan group."
Asked to rate the visit to Arkansas, he uttered a familiar phrase.
"Probably an 8," Thomas said. "I learned about the Honors College and all that stuff and Coach Segrest."
Stanford and UCLA?
"They were both eights as well," Thomas said.
