Mama, the 6-4, 340-pounder from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco, was originally scheduled to officially visit BYU this weekend, but he has cancelled that visit and arranged one with UCLA.
It's been long thought that USC was his leader.
Mama has, however, had a very strong connection to UCLA Offensive Line Coach Adrian Klemm. UCLA is also recruiting St. John Bosco very effectively, with two commitments in the 2014 class from defensive back Jaleel Wadood and defensive lineman Jacob Tuioti-Mariner. UCLA is also doing extremely well with St. John Bosco 2015 quarterback prospect Josh Rosen.
In the last several days the feeling from sources close to his recruitment is that UCLA has been starting to get more traction with Mama.
It's, of course, a huge recruiting weekend for UCLA, with elite prospects visiting from out of the area, and many unofficial visits from local committed prospects and 2015 prospects. The addition of Mama now makes it even bigger.
Mama plans to play one year of college football and then go on his two-year Mormon Mission.
