UCLA is going after several John Curtis players, from 2014 Kenny Young (and more in that group) to 2015 safety Hunter Dale and 2016 offensive tackle Willie Allen.
"Their coaches were at school to talk to Malachi," Allen said, "and the linebackers coach said they want to offer me.
"Their head coach, Jim Mora, came to our basketball game. He and the other coaches said I move very well; that I had good footwork."
Allen, previously offered by LSU and Florida, is interested in learning more about Bruin lore.
"I'm thinking about this offer," he said. "I think UCLA has a great program. If it feels like home when I visit, and my family can come see me, then I would like to go there.
"I'm ready to visit the campus to see what happens. I'm already aware that they have a beautiful place on their campus."
Allen, the post player on the Curtis hoops squad, drained a dozen points with 14 rebounds and six blocks in front of Mora and company.
John Curtis captured the gridiron Division III state title last December.
Allen is one of only a select few 2016 prospects ranked thus far by Scout.com. He's rated four stars.
