Arthur McGinnis performed admirably during his third attempt at a Nike SPARQ Combine, collecting a score of 106.35, good for ninth place overall out of more than 1,000 participants. In addition, McGinnis edged out four-star teammate Tyron Johnson, who finished just behind at 103.71.
"It feels good," Arthur McGinnis said as he caught his breath immediately following the SPARQ drills at Joe Brown Memorial Park. "You know this is my third time doing this?
"I'm feeling real good about it. I had the 96th percentile with a 4.69 40; 94th percentile with 4.31 shuttle; and 90th percentile with power ball (39.5).
McGinnis continues to receive offers at a steady pace.
"Recruiting is going great," he said. "I'm steadily racking up the offers. UL recently offered. I don't have any favorites right now. I'm planning on visiting UCLA, Mississippi State and Tennessee most likely during the spring."
UCLA: "They have a really good program. Their season was great last year. I can't wait to go out there and visit."
Mississippi State: "I've been out there before to actually a camp out there where they offered me, so I'm excited to go back on a return trip."
Tennessee: "They're great. I know they have a good program too, so we decided that we're going to go out there."
Texas Tech and Ole Miss are a couple of other recent offers for McGinnis, who was measured at 6-1 1/2, 222 pounds at the Nike SPARQ Combine.
Warren Easton is expected to contend for the Class 4A state title next year with McGinnis and Tyron Johnson returning, along with QB Deshawn Capers-Smith (Texas A&M commit) and three-star WR Darrell Clark.
