"I feel like I did pretty well this weekend," said James. "I feel I can improve on my 40 and vertical. I need to work on those. But I thought I did well in my shuttle and powerball. (At the camp), I have some things to improve in my one-on-one's and my technique. I only got to take two reps and I slipped on the first one, but I did better on the second one driving my man out."
The top lineman in Utah and the No. 2 tackle in the West, James has a slew of offers, his most recent coming on his way to the NFTC on Sunday morning.
"Miami offered me before the camp so that was exciting," said James.
On Friday, James flew out to Los Angeles and spent the day at UCLA, the second time he visited (he was there unofficially in November).
"UCLA was wonderful," said James. "I met with Coach (Jim) Mora and just talked for a long time about how he's going to be staying there for a long time and he showed it. And I met with Coach (Adrian) Klemm. We went over videos and what they do with practices and that was cool to see. Coach (Taylor) Mazzone is also recruiting me and I really like him. I had toured their facilities when I came out (in November), and it's still beautiful."
After doing the SPARQ Combine on Saturday and the NFTC on Sunday, James rounded out his weekend with a visit of USC, the first time he's been there.
"It was great at USC," said James. "Their campus is amazing. I love their style of offense."
While James doesn't have an offer yet, the staff is plenty familiar with him, with the staff offering him when they were at Washington.
But the visit to USC gave him a chance to meet with new offensive line coach Tim Drevno.
"Coach Drevno has a lot of experience at the next level and is very demanding and that's what I'm looking for in a school," said James. "I'm looking for a school that can take me to the next level."
James said a return trip to the Southland could happen when he takes his official visits.
For now, he's likely done with his unofficial visits.
"I might not be able to take any more visits until my officials," said James. "So this weekend was important."
With double-digit offers, James said there are still just a small handful of schools he's talking with that haven't offered.
Academically, James has a 3.0 and will take the SAT later in the spring.
