Humphreys to Check Out L.A. Schools

Ben Humphreys had a very strong performance at the NIKE Camp to earn LB MVP honors. Here's our evaluation of the athlete following the event;

"Humphreys is the definition of a football player, he just knows how to play the game and plays it the right way. His instincts are unmatched and he's one of those guys that just seems to be a step ahead of everyone else on the field. He plays with an incredible motor yet is always under control, fully aware of where he's at on the field.

He's a very good all around athlete with above average cover skills. He's physically very tough, can play in space and rush the passer. He ‘s a natural leader and easily one of the most under-rated prospects in the region. Humphrey should have double digit offers and will no doubt out-play several players in college who were more heavily recruited."

On the recruiting front, Humphreys has a couple of unofficial visits coming up and is planning to make an early decision.

"This Friday I'll be going up to UCLA and then I'll be at USC on Saturday," Humphreys said. "Neither school has offered but they're both recruiting me pretty hard. Hopefully they'll offer, that would be big for me so we'll how it goes.

"California and Washington are the schools recruiting me the hardest and I'm going to try and visit both over Spring Break. I'm going to camp with UCLA and I'll do the Stanford full contact camp again as well.

As for when he wants to make a decision, Humphreys said he plans to get it done early.

"I do plan to make an early decision, sometime late in the summer," Humphreys said. "Depending on what happens with the two L.A schools and Stanford, it could come down to Cal and Washington but like I said, we'll see what happens. It's still early and a lot can happen so I'm just going to play this out and then make my decision before school starts so I can focus on my senior year without any distractions."
