Wicker Will Wait to Decide

Long Beach Poly's (Calif.) Joseph Wicker is one of the most versatile defensive lineman out West. He's able to play anywhere along the defensive line and had a solid showing at the recent NIKE Camp in Redondo, California...

Joseph Wicker plays defensive end at Poly but has the frame to easily grow in to a tackle down the line. He's a very strong kid who moves well and plays with toughness. He's physical and had two great one on one reps against the top tackle in the West, Keenan Walker, that might have been the two most competitive reps of the day.

On the recruiting front, Wicker said a pair of Pac 12 schools are recruiting him the hardest right now.

"Oregon State and SMU are my most recent offers," Wicker said. "I'm planning to visit Arizona State in the next two weeks with some of my cousins since we couldn't make it to their recent Junior Day. Right now, ASU and Washington are recruiting me the hardest.

"I originally committed to UW but that staff is gone. I talk with the new staff though and I like them a lot. I'm not hearing a lot from the local schools right now. I went up to UCLA for a basketball game and they said they could offer but it hasn't happened yet and I haven't heard much from USC either. It's cool, I have no problem leaving home so if they don't want to recruit me, I'm not going to be broken up over it."

As for a timeline for a decision, Wicker plans to play this out.

"I want to wait until Signing Day," Wicker said. "I'm open to everyone and I don't want to rush my decision. I don't want to commit and then have second thoughts and put myself in a position to have to de-commit and go somewhere else.

"Once I commit, that will be it for me so I want to wait as long as possible to make sure I don't have any second thoughts or regrets. I plan to take all my trips and play it out and then go ahead and sign on Signing Day."
