Visits are Key for Patchan

Scott Patchan has added around 10 pounds this off-season. He checked in at the Orlando Nike Football Training Camp at 230 pounds.

The 6-foot-5 Tampa, Fla. native has been adding scholarships on a regular basis over the last month.

North Carolina State offered last week and it was Louisville, Nebraska, and UCLA before that.

He has an impressive offer list and he still has a lot of thinking to do.

"I am not close to making a decision," said Patchan. "I am still going to take a lot of visits. I will be at the Florida State and Miami spring games, I plan to visit UCLA this summer, so I still have to make some decision."

Some feel UM could hold the lead being his father Matt Patchan played for the Hurricanes in the mid 80s. Miami is in it, but it will have to recruit the three-star end like everyone else.

"I grew up watching Miami and liking Miami, but I other schools too. It was Florida for a while with my brother going there for a while.

"I do like Coach [Al] Golden, I know a lot about Miami, and I feel comfortable there. It is a school I like."

For now though, Patchan does not have a leader. He is just taking things slow.

"A lot of schools are coming after me hard," said Patchan. "Miami, North Carolina, Auburn, Ohio State and others are really recruiting me, so I am looking at them too.

"I just want to take some visits and see where that takes me."
