Bruins Ringing for Bell

The Hoover (Ala.) defensive end, Christian Bell, is getting a lot of attention from UCLA...

Hoover (Ala.) defensive end Christian Bell (6-4, 215), was able to avoid the ringing of his phone this week.

"I just got a new phone so I haven't had many calls," said Bell.

But there were still coaches reaching out to him in other ways.

In fact, Bell said that Alabama, Mississippi State and UCLA all reached out this week.

"I'm wide open but those three schools have all been after me pretty hard," said Bell.

With a slew of Southern schools after him, Bell said he's legitimately interested in the Bruins.

"I want to visit unofficially in the summer and then officially too," said Bell.

So what has made UCLA intriguing to Bell?

"The 3-4," said Bell. "They like me as a pass-rusher and like me to play like Anthony Barr. It's a good defense for me."

Bell said that Angus McClure is recruiting him for UCLA but he also talks with head coach Jim Mora.

"Coach Angus and Coach Mora talk with me the most," said Bell.

Bell said that he's open to playing either defensive end or outside linebacker in college.

"I want to do a mix of both, rushing the passer, dropping into coverage," said Bell.

Bell said he's hoping to make his decision before the season but would still like to take his visits.
