Hutchinson (KS) CC linebacker Claude George is one of the top prospects in the country at the junior college level but can get overshadowed on his own squad that also consists of Marquavius Lewis, Jeremiah Ledbetter, and Alvin Kamara.
That isn't stopping many college programs from taking notice. He showed during Thursday's practice that he deserves to be in the conversation for one of the best junior college linebackers.
He shared his thoughts on spring practice up to this point.
"Today was just a light practice," George said. We just came out here to scrimmage briefly. We wanted to get after it and have some good competition. The offense beat us fair and square. We had some things we liked and some things we didn't. We just have to continue to get better and better. I'm content with how I've improved and aim to continue to get better."
George recently added his fourth offer of his process.
"South Florida offered me," he confirmed. "I was pretty excited about it. Getting that offer is humbling. They spoke to my coach and informed him."
"I don't know much about them to be honest," George added. "I knew it was a great program a few years back. It was great to know that they liked me and I'm definitely interested."
A couple key visitors will be at Hutchinson in the upcoming week to observe practice.
"UCLA and Arizona State are coming to check us out," George noted. "I talked to them this week and they let me know that. There's no offer yet from either but I'm hoping that it comes."
George shared his thoughts on the Bruins.
"A UCLA offer would be amazing," he admitted. "They are at the top of my board right now. I love their defensive scheme. They run a 3-4 defense and I think I fit in well with that philosophy. I think I could make a big impact in that style."
The Sun Devils have also caught the eye of George and he looks up to a former linebacker from the program.
"It's a linebacker school so it's a school I'm definitely looking into," he said about Arizona State. "Vontaze Burfict is one of my role models so they are a school that has a place for me. He's someone I look up to so I know I will want to see them."
Two other programs are on George's radar and he'd like to visit them.
"I want to visit Miami and Arkansas," he discussed. "Miami is a good program and I'm close with Coach (Kareem) Brown. I'm real interested in them and want to learn more about them. They have good players and a strong tradition. I'm looking forward to seeing it."
"Arkansas is a great program and from the SEC," George continued. That is where the high-caliber of football is being played at right now. I'm close with Coach Pittman."
