Gustin Talks New Offers

The Salem Hills (Utah) four-star linebacker, Porter Gustin, talks about his new offers, including one from UCLA...

Salem Hills (Utah) linebacker Porter Gustin (6-5, 237), is well into the 20's for offers, continuing what has been a whirlwind six weeks for the four-star.

Four new schools have offered in the past two weeks, Arizona State, Nebraska and UCLA all joining national champions Florida State in throwing their hat into the ring.

Gustin broke down the new offers.

Florida State: "That offer was amazing. Just watching them go throughout the season and winning the national championship and then knowing they haven the potential to do it again. They have the Heisman Winter, their defense was great and it's a program I definitely want to check out here pretty soon. I definitely feel privileged to get that offer, and that is definitely one to consider because of the football they play. Coach (Tim) Brewster is who is recruiting me."

Nebraska: "That was one I definitely was excited to get. Nebraska is a great school and you always know when they're good. They always have a chance to win a national championship and you get to watch them on TV all the time. Coach Kaz (Rick Kaczenski) is who's recruiting me for Nebraska.

Arizona State: "ASU was one of the first schools I talked to but they just offered. That's also one of those other great schools. I was planning to get out there recently, but had to reschedule. But I do plan on getting there and check out the school and facilities.

UCLA: "UCLA offered last Friday and that was great. They were obviously ranked high in the rankings last year. The school is in a great environment and I've heard nothing but great things about UCLA. Coach (Jeff) Ulbrich was who offered but I talked to both of the coaches, Coach Brick and Coach Tui (Mike Tuiasosopo). I will definitely get out there again to L.A. because UCLA is definitely one of those schools you want to check out."

Tuiasosopo, who coaches the outside linebackers for UCLA, is expected to visit Utah next week to see Gustin.

He'll be back in Pac-12 country next month and then do an SEC swing not too long after.

"We will most likely hit Oregon, Oregon State, Washington and Washington State over the weekend of the 9th of May," said Gustin. "We will also do a swing to LSU, Auburn and Alabama in late May or Mid-June."

Several other schools are keeping an eye on Gustin, though they haven't quite pulled the trigger on an offer, including Alabama, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Gustin plans to camp at the Oregon NFTC in June.
