Sacramento (Calif.) Capital Christian athlete Justice Shelton-Mosley (6-0, 180), headed down to Southern California last weekend for an unofficial visit to UCLA.

And Shelton-Mosley was blown away on the trip.

"There is nothing like UCLA," said Shelton-Mosley. "There is nothing like the weather, the academics, the people. The facilities are nice. They're not just great at one sport, every sport is great. You walk through and you see stuff for Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, Bill Walton and Jackie Robinson, and he was a four-sport athlete."

Shelton-Mosley got to spend time with a longtime family friend, Marcus Rios, while at UCLA.

"Marcus is a close family friend and we talked a lot," said Shelton-Mosley. "I met Nate Iese down there and I know of Eddie Vanderdoes. They have a lot of Sacramento connections."

Shelton-Mosley said the Bruins seem to be close to offering him.

"I think they're close to offering, so maybe in the next two months, that could be my next serious Pac-12 offer," said Shelton-Mosley. "I was talking with Angus (McClure) and Coach (Eric) Yarber and now they're recruiting me as a receiver. Coach Yarber said he's been impressed with me and they like me as a speedy slot that they use in multiple formations."

While in Los Angeles, Cal offered Shelton-Mosley, an offer he had long coveted.

"The offer from Cal is definitely impactful," said Shelton-Mosley. "It's close to home, has great academics and alumni worldwide. Being the number one public school in the world definitely has a big impact and the location is great. My family was truly excited about that offer. They don't mind where I go, they always want you to stay close to home, then they can watch and that's something that we all need sometimes. But they were really happy that Cal offered."

Shelton-Mosley has talked with Duke, Harvard, Northwestern and UCLA since the eval period started and he'll be back in Southern California this weekend for the Passing Down Tournament on Sunday, with plans to go to the UCLA Spring Game on Saturday.

"I'm trying to shut it down and stay close with my focus on a few," said Shelton-Mosley. "I want to start breaking down where I'm going to take officials, start preparing for the camps and really get into recruiting in June or July. I'm just trying to see where it's going in the next two months."

Shelton-Mosley plans to camp at the Oakland NFTC next month then work out at the Q90 Camp in June.
